FEBRUARY 2018 UPDATE

On Saturday 24th February, we enjoyed a visit to Whites of Appleton Ltd. Church Bellhangers in Abingdon, Oxfordshire to see where our church bells are being renovated.  The free coach travel and guided tour were made possible thanks to our Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

We are now turning our attention to several tasks that need completing around the milestones of rehanging and rededicating our bells prior to them ringing on November 11th 2018.

We are also planning another Barnham Broom Village Summer Fete in aid of the Bells Appeal.  We hope you can join us on Sunday 19th August 2018 at The Mill House as in 2016.

Our Events team, under the direction of the Parish Council, are aiming to continue to bring the community together in fundraising events that will benefit the village.
The first of these events with be a Quiz Night with Bangers & Baked Potato on Saturday 24th March at the Village Hall in aid of the Memorial Garden. Tickets are on sale for this at Barnham Broom Post Office & Stores.

Our thanks once again to all who help and support us as we head towards the final stages of our project.

Bells Foundry Visit

The free coach travel and Guided Tour of Whites Foundry on Saturday 24th February were made possible thanks to our Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

Setting off at 7am from Barnham Broom School and picking up our last passenger at Rush Green, the early start meant less traffic and the chance to see the sunrise as we made our way to Whites of Appleton in Oxfordshire.

We were welcomed with refreshments and a chance to see our bells up close. Our thanks to Brian White for his guided tour explaining the various stages of restoration. We rounded off our visit with a chance to ring some bells.

From Whites of Appleton we travelled into Oxford, but the traffic meant we were just too late to hear Great Tom - the Great Bell of Christ Church, Oxford - ringing. The bright but cold day gave us plenty of photo opportunities as, guided by Jane Curran, we enjoyed a walking tour to see many of the Oxford colleges.
