Rehanging the bells Phase 1 – Strengthening Beams
With the bell frame structurally in fair condition, phase 1 of the
rehang is to provide more support and strengthening to the bell frame.
Over a 2-day period, Graham Clifton from Whites of Appleton Ltd. Church
Bellhangers was joined by volunteers who helped with the strengthening work,
provided and helped with refreshments and lunches and helped with a spring
clean around the church.
With holes already drilled to receive them, the beams were raised and held steady with the hoists while they were positioned.
The end result. Beams attached to the frame and ready to be cemented in.
Angle brackets, ties and rods strengthening the oak frame.
Meanwhile, in the church - a chance to spring clean.
