On Tuesday 25th April a Charity Golf Day took place at the Barnham Broom
Golf Club. On the same afternoon a Ladies
Charity Bridge event took place in the village hall, both in support of the
Barnham Broom Church Bells Restoration Appeal.
The day got off to an anxious start as snowflakes, driven by a cold
northerly wind, descended over the course.
Happily and perhaps with some Divine intervention, the sun broke through
as the players set out and remained with us until mid-afternoon by which time
all golfers had returned from their rounds.
48 players took part with varying degrees of expertise but all agreed
that a thoroughly enjoyable time had been had by all and were rewarded with a
two course lunch followed by an auction of prizes kindly donated by supporters
of the Appeal.
At the same time, 60 ladies enjoyed over two hours of competitive
Bridge, concluding with a raffle of donated prizes. Their contribution to the appeal of over
£1,400 was hugely appreciated.
The Bells Appeal Committee would like to thank the organisers, sponsors
and all those who helped and contributed to the day. In particular Barnham
Broom Golf Club for hosting the Golf event, Muddyboots
Photography for capturing the Golf day in photographs and Barnham Broom &
District WI for manning the kitchen at the Bridge event.
Our grateful thanks to all who took part in
what was
felt to be a very successful day, helping to raise an estimated £10,000 towards
the Restoration of the Bells of the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Barnham
Broom.
Thank You
