Campanile at the school |
Following the award of the generous grant of £28,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the restoration project itself is now going ahead. Our involvement with the Barnham Broom C of E Primary School has begun with a school visit to the church and a Campanile display at the school. A set of tone chimes has been purchased for the school and a group of children are taking lessons on these. The schoolchildren are getting a chance to see the bells themselves as the bells break their journey at the school before heading to the bell foundry in Oxfordshire.
Thank you to all who have made our recent fundraising events such a success. The Village Summer Party in August, Quiz Night in October and Edith Cavell Evening in November have helped raise just over £970 for the Bells Appeal between them. Coming up in December will be our Christmas Bingo at the Village Hall on Saturday 9th December. We hope you’ll be able to join us.
Our grateful thanks for your continued donations, including all who have
made a contribution thorough the collection box in the shop. This has now
raised over £750 for the appeal for which we sincerely thank all the customers
and staff.
