At the start of August, work was completed on the bells fittings. Once
the work was finished, Graham Clifton and James Haseldine from Whites of
Appleton Ltd. Church Bellhangers, were joined for the test ring by Jill and
Keith Tinsey and a group of expert local bell ringers including Peter Trent,
the former Diocesan Bell Adviser. Five of our trainee ringers had an
opportunity to ring the bells and here was a chance for ringers and non-ringers
to sound all 5 bells with the Ellacombe Chime.
Practice evenings for our trainees have now switched from Reymerston to
Barnham Broom, with the bells being rung silently.
We are now gathering in the promised grants as well as preparing for the
rededication service in October.
Our thanks to everyone involved in the Barnham Broom Village Summer Fete at The Mill
House for helping to raise £3184.55 towards the
Barnham Broom Church Bells Restoration Appeal.
Our duck race was very popular
and the chance to ring bells on the Carter Campanile was repeated later in the
month at St Peter Mancroft as part of their open day.
Planning and rehearsals are now underway for our re-enactment of the
history of the Church Bells which will be held at Barnham Broom Church on Saturday
6th October.
We hope to see you there.
