The free coach travel and Guided Tour of Whites Foundry on Saturday 24th
February were made possible thanks to our Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
Setting off at 7am from Barnham Broom School and picking up our last
passenger at Rush Green, the early start meant less traffic and the chance to
see the sunrise as we made our way to Whites of Appleton in Oxfordshire.
We were welcomed with refreshments and a chance to see our bells up close. Our thanks to Brian White for his guided tour explaining the various stages of restoration. We rounded off our visit with a chance to ring some bells.
From Whites of Appleton we travelled into Oxford, but the traffic meant
we were just too late to hear Great Tom - the Great Bell of Christ Church,
Oxford - ringing. The bright but cold day gave us plenty of photo opportunities
as, guided by Jane Curran, we enjoyed a walking tour to see many of the Oxford
colleges.
Check out more pictures of the day in the albums on our Facebook page.
